Just Remember to Brush Your Teeth

It’s common knowledge that turning the tap off while brushing your teeth, shaving, or otherwise tending to your pretty face can save over 2 gallons of water per minute. If you brush your teeth twice a day for your dentist’s recommended 2 minutes, that means proper faucet turn-off conserves almost 60 gallons of water per week more than brushing your teeth with the faucet on, while simultaneously reducing your need to pee.

We recently caught Jubilee Director Jack Martinez engaging in a dirty, dirty habit: the toothbrushing shower, which wastes almost 40 gallons of water per day! “I just can’t help it,” he said, “it’s a family tradition to brush my teeth in the shower, and it feel so right. It’s how I relax, and, in fact, I get most of my work for the Jubilee done during my toothbrushing shower.” When further pressed, Martinez agreed it might be possible to incorporate a once-daily toothbrushing shower to his regular shower, in the spirit of the Jubilee.
So turn off your faucets (or showers) and love the earth in Jubilee style, but please don’t forget to brush your teeth, because kissing is good for the earth too.
